A case to show the iPad in the development world

When I was looking for an industrialized nation to represent the growth of the iPad, I chose Australia and New Zealand because they seemed so remote yet so attached to modern technology. One could argue that Australians and New Zealanders benefit a lot from technological developments because their relative isolation from mainland Europe. They can always use the other route to get to America but I think that they provide a good launch pad to examine the impact of the iPad. Because of its rather archaic immigration principles, Australia is not particularly open to the rest of the world but nevertheless technology such as the iPad ensures that they are not completely isolated.

Issues that concern developed nations such as Australia

1. The iPad is helping in the transition from typewriter based word processing. Those of us who have managed offices will know that the type writer has led to many employment claims for repetitive injury syndrome. The touch screen that we get from the iPad is the perfect repost to these problems and I believe that developed nations will be only too happy to use the technology.

2. I believe that the latest versions of the iPad are paying proper attention to the environmental concerns. As people in the developed world demand that their governments employ sustainable development, it seems that the iPad has scored a major victory in this aspect by putting in measures such as the sleep button. Environmental concern is a good marketing tool for the iPad because it means that the young generation is more likely to pay attention to it.

3. Interactivity is one of the best selling points that you can make in today’s competitive technology markets. I have a theory that as people lose touch with their social skills, the computer has become a companion. This means that they do not just want to use computer but would prefer to have some level of in built interaction. The iPad allows them to indulge in this fantasy. Eventually people will become enslaved to the iPad in much the same way as they are enslaved to the television.

4. Although countries such as Australia are very rich, the people who live there are concerned about costs just like everyone else in the world. This means that the iPad has to justify the prices that it is being released at or else there will be a squeezed market. You cannot really say that the iPad is a luxury item so there has to be a formula for the customers to get the technology at a reasonable price.

5. Generally people worry about the impact of modern technology on their lives. Health is an area where people do not really like compromise. Thus if there are issues with the radiation aspects of the iPad, it will put off some of the customers within the developed world. Part of the marketing campaign has to be about reassuring the public that the equipment is safe to use, especially as far as it concerns children.
