There are lot of software out there which will let you shutdown or restart your PC on a predefined time. TweetMyPC lets you do the same thing but it lets you do it remotely.

TweetMyPC uses twitter to get its shutdown/Restart/LogOff commands. All you have to do is download TweetMyPC and Create a new twitter account for your pc.

Whenever you want to shutdown or restart your pc, just post a new Tweet (shutdown, restart, logoff) and TweetMyPC does it for you.

Tired of (re)updating your status in Twitter and Google Talk? then twitter2gTalk is all you need to synchronize your tweets with gTalk.

twitter2gTalk automatically updates your tweets from your twitter account to your gTalk status/away message. Updates from Twitter will be done every 5 – 15 minutes. twitter2gTalk does not update your replies (replies start with @).

Here is how you configure twitter2gTalk.

1. Visit http://twitter2gtalk.appspot.com/
2. Login with your Google ID.
3. Click settings and update your twitter user ID and gTalk password.
4. Select Active and press Submit. and thats it now forget about updating your gTalk status message.

Sorry if the title is misleading. I am going to talk about how I keep track of one of my servers which runs on ubuntu. I am using a Ubuntu server for www.vuvoice.com service. I was difficult to me to keep an eye on this server as this server was heavily used to make automatic outbound calls. Thanks to Kunal for his wonderful post Update Your Linux Box Status to Twitter .

Now my ubuntu box tweets every 10 minutes and informs me about its status. I am also planning to add direct messages if something is severely wrong with the service.

For those who don’t know what is jata, jata is just another Twitter App. Check this post for more details. Finally second version of jata is here. So Whats new?

1. Rounded Corners : Now jata has rounded corners to match Google Talk

2. Remember me and Start with Windows : Based on a user’s review I have added “Start automaticaly when Windows starts” option to jata.

3. Message Preview and New Update Box : jata gets a new messgae box. Just point your mouse pointer to a message and you can view the complete message. I have also changed the update box.

4. ‘New Tweets’ count : jata also displays a count of new messages. See below for a screenshot

Okay this time its Twitter! People started receiving emails as if it was sent from Twitter and asking them to login to a website which looks like Twitter (in simple words, phishing email). Here is what Twitter has to say about it.

It looks as though this particular scam sent out emails resembling those you might receive from Twitter if you get email notifications of your Direct Messages. The email said, “hey! check out this funny blog about you…” and then provided a link. That link redirected to a site masquerading as the Twitter front page.

If you didn’t look at the URL of this false Twitter page, then you might not have noticed that it was actually just a page on the domain access-logins.com which was also faking Facebook’s front page. We immediately reported the offending domain (and warned our friends at Facebook). The site is now on OpenDNS’ and Google’s reported phishing lists.

Twitter has also added a message on top of their home page too.

Firefox has already started blocking the website. You can read more about it here. Even afte so many warnings from people and Twitter, it seems some one fellow just logged in

Inspired by Google Talk design, suddenly I thought of developing a Twitter App for windows based on Google Talk design.

Its nearing completion and soon it will be available for download here. Its developed using VB.net and soon I will be posting the source code in codegeeks.

Here is a preview of jata. Oh yeah! I named it jata. Its nothing but just another Twitter app.

1. Login screen

2. Once Logged in jata shows the recent tweets just like new mails in Google Talk.

3. jata periodically checks for updates and alerts us.

4. You can check for the new message and post your status right from jata!
