One more useful feature of Gmail Labs – Email Translation. Enable it in the Labs settings, and next time you see a mail written in a language other than your own, you can hit the link reading e.g. “Translate message to: English†above, and the message will magically appear in English.

Some time back I wrote a post about how you can delay your messages in outlook so that you can stop emails sent out in error. Now a similar feature is available in Gmail via Gmail Labs.
You can enable this by going to the Gmail Labs section and opting in to the “Undo Send†feature.

When you now press Send on an email (say, something with the headline “I am quitting my job!†or so), you’ll be returned to your inbox, but above the messages you’ll see “Your message has been sent. Undo View Messageâ€. After five seconds, the Undo disappears. The “magic†in this is that your email actually hasn’t been really sent already when you hit the Send button, despite what the dialog says, but that it’s hold back for this amount of seconds in case you change your mind. (Of course, there is a chance you’ll be moving your mouse towards the Undo aiming to press it and have it suddenly disappear a split-second before you click… there is no timing indicator or fade-out to warn you. Also note, as the Gmail blog mentions, should your browser crash in that time frame, then your email will be sent in anyway.)

Google search reporting every site as harmful websites, Gmail becomes GFail, Google docs reports about security issues and now the great firewall of china block google.com.
Yesterday, Sunday, for over an hour Google.com and Google.cn could not be reached in China. According to Sina, the site was inaccessible from 17:23 to 18:45. Google in a statement quoted by Sina said they researched the cause of this but could not find anything wrong on their end, so the conclusion is that this was a block part of the so-called Great Firewall of China.

Hackers are sending phishing emails to Gmail users via the Google Talk instant messaging system, Sophos has revealed.
The security firm said Gmail users were receiving unsolicited instant messages that urged them to view a video by clicking a TinyURL link.
However, the hoax link navigates to a website called ViddyHo, where web users are asked to enter their Gmail username and password.
“We’re all used to receiving suspicious communications via email, but these attacks arrived via the instant chat system built into Gmail. As a result, more users may fall unwittingly into the trap,” said Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant at Sophos.

If you have not heard it yet, the hottest news about Gmail is that you can enable Gmail for offline access. Meaning once you enable Gmail for offline access you will be able to use it like any other email application (Outlook, Thunderbird etc).
You will be able to read and reply to emails even if your internet connection is down. Your replies will be sent as soon as the internet connection is up.
New mails will be downloaded as soon as the browser detects an active internet connection. Gmail offline access is enabled using Google Gears.
Here is how you can enable this feature for your gmail account. Never activate this in a shared or public computer.
- Login to your Gmail account (make sure you are using the standard edition and not basic HTML)
- Click Settings
- Select the labs tab

- You should see the option to enable Gmail Offline access. Select “Enable” and then scroll down and click “Save Changes”

Your inbox will be reloaded and you should see a new menu item named “offline” as shown below

Clicking the offline menu will install Google gears. Once the browser is restarted you should be able to use Gmail even when the internet is down.
