Every day, new technologies have been introduced into the daily activities of any company, whether small or large. Implementation, will improve key areas such as management, planning and improving customer relations. Moreover, the dependence of existing digital information and computer systems is so high, that a disaster could result in high losses and even the cessation of economic activity.
This problem is the need to be prepared for any disaster and minimize the disruption that this may cause. Therefore, every company should prepare and develop a contingency plan for disaster prevention and recovery software.
The main threats that can cause a IT data disaster are:
• Viruses, worms or Trojan horses.
• Inadequate use of information systems by employees.
• Spam (receiving email advertising mass).
• Loss of confidentiality.
• Denial of Service (attacks that cause a resource is too busy to answer requests permitted and caused denying authorized users access to your machine).
• Fraud using financial information systems.
• Inadequate use of information systems by third parties.
• Physical security.
• Poor quality of software.
• Theft of information.
It is not possible to eliminate risk entirely, but you can minimize the dangers and damage that could cause a computer disaster. To do so, aware of every company should follow a rigorous set of recommendations:
1. Before opening each email message try to verify the origin of it.
2. Avoid downloading programs from Internet sites not safe (typically safe business pages, pages and governmental institutions).
3. Perform regular backups (at least once a week). This is a great security policy in the event of data loss (e.g. caused by a virus) can be overcome by restoring the latest copy.
4. Continually informed about what happens in the Security sector. It is highly recommended to visit on a regular page.
5. Possess a permanent antivirus scans frequently updated and make the computer for viruses.
6. Keep your operating system updated with security fixes published by manufacturers. In Windows, can be automated using the “Windows Updateâ€, which allows you to connect to the Microsoft website and check if there are outstanding updates to install in our system.
