indiatimes shopping! cheating?

April 16th, 2008

Today accidentally I came upon this page in Indiatimes shopping and was shocked to see the contents. (Clcick to enlarge)

The laptop shown in the page is Compaq presario v3225au model. I bought this laptop about 5 months back. And running Ubuntu and XP successfully. I was shocked to see the price. The page says

MRP : Rs 53,900

You Save : Rs 17,000

Price Now : Rs 36,290

I bought this laptop for 35,000. This amount includes 2500 additional cost for 512 MB RAM. The above is nothing but CHEATING.

This laptop is no longer available from HP. They are selling it for Rs.3790 more than the normal price and claim we save 17,000.

I checked some other products in their site and same is the case with most of the items. They are selling a HTC phone for 16,000 (They called it reduced price) where as it costs only 14,000+ in the market. There are many other websites like these. www.wowdeals.co.in is another website which claims to sell products at discounted rate.  Lets have a look at those.

Sonyericsson K750i : Price : 9000+ and You save : 12,000+

Sonyericsson W810i : Price : 12,000+ and you save 16,000+

They call these GREAT BRANDS GREAT DEALS. I think these websites should be shutdown. What do you say?

I think these sites are only platforms and the products come from dealers offline much like ebay.

The products sold through indiatimes shopping are mostly done through those third rated stores which you can find at many places where they sell pirated and duplicate or chinese stuff and i have had very bad experiences with Indiatimes shopping many times due to this and i have stopped buying electronic items through them.

It seems that they have been doing well planned and intentional fraud by aggressively promoting their 50% cash back offer which the customer never gets in reality.
I had purchased Rs 5000/worth goods but I have never received any cash back Gift coupan.
I have placed complete detail with specific detail on mouthshut.com

I wanted to send 3 cakes to 3 different families in Delhi for Christmas. I purchased the cakes on indiatimesshopping and each time i would get a message stating insufficient payment. Only to realize after 11 tries that they charged me RS 757 each time. Now when i called them they refused to refund my money back. they are saying they will give me giftcards that i have no use for. any reputable company would accept their mistake and refund the money in a case like this. it was a technical issue with their own site. why should i loose 8300 rupees for 3 cakes that was never delivered?

well, since i was going nowhere with them either through the phone or email, i made the smart decision to despute all the charges through my credit card company. i received all + finance charges back. well it would have been nice if they returned my money back. what they lost, they will never get back which is me and many others like me. will NEVER shop again at indiatimes shopping..!!!!!
