delay messages in outlook

How many times have you banged on the table after sending an email to the wrong person? Well if you are using outlook to manage your emails you can set a simple rule to avoid recovering emails after sending it to the wrong person, a rule to delay all your sent messages. If you don’t know how just follow these simple steps.

1. Open outlook

2. Click Tools -> Rules and Alerts

3. Click New Rule

4. Under “Start from a blank rule” click “Check message after sending” and click Next

5. Click Next in the next window and click yes in the confirmation box.

6. Select “defer delivery by a number of minutes“. Enter the number of minutes by which your sent messages should be delayed.

7. Click ‘Finish

There may be some instances where you want outlook to send the message immediately. Just add an exception to this rule may be for a sepcific character in the subject or body text :-)
