Yeah!! in a very short time the 4th BarCamp is here. After the first BarCampKerala in Trivandrum, the second and third in Kochi, the fourth will be conducted at IIM Kozhikode.

This event is held in conjuction with the IIM-K’s Annual Management and Cultural Festival - ‘BACKWATERS’ scheduled on 16th, 17th and 18th of January 2009. This fest will host 15+ Management Events and Cultural Events that will see participation from 50+ top B-Schools across the country. The events also see participation from 1500+ Corporate Delegates, IIMK Alumni, Entrepreneurs, Undergraduates, etc

If you dont know what is jata and how it started, read this. Finally the beta version of jata is released and yo can download it from http://www.codeplex.com/jata/

jata automatically checks for new messages. You can also post or reply to tweets right from jata. I am planning to add more features like chat, web cam support, sound effects etc in the near future.

The FBI is reminding people this holiday season that cyber criminals continue to aggressively seek ways to steal money and personal information. Scammers are using several techniques to fool potential victims including sending unsolicited e-mails that contain attachments such as electronic greeting cards containing malware (malicious software), setting up spoofing websites that look like legitimate commercial sites, and unleashing phishing and vishing attacks where individuals receive e-mails asking for personal data. Have you lost your door keys? Don’t worry all you need is a picture of your key (Oh yeah! you will have to take a picture of your key and store it in your wallet :).

Scientists in California have developed a new software algorithm which can create a key from a picture of a key (Sounds little scary too). The software can create a key even if the picture was taken from a long distance or different angle. The project, called Sneakey, was meant to warn people about the dangers of haphazardly placing keys in the open or posting images of them online.

A couple of months ago it was mentioned here that Google’s web mail client Gmail might get themes, like a black-and-green terminal view, and the waiting time seems to be over soon – Google announced they’ve started to roll out this feature. While I don’t see it in my Gmail yet (the screenshots in this post are courtesy of Andris and Google), it’s supposed to be added to a Themes tab in your settings. Note some themes are dynamic and may change throughout different times of the day. “We’ve also done a minor facelift to Gmail’s default look,” Google adds.
