Cyber Security Building a Good Habit

Published: Mar 8th, 2010 | Author: Crank Up 1 Comment

Internet security isn’t the least bit that challenging. Once you have embedded it into your system then it is simply like riding a bicycle or can be as natural as walking. By doing this you are able to have a fighting chance of making sure your sensitive details are well-kept from the attacks of computer hackers.

An aspect of building a healthy trait would be to assess how your details are able to be accessed, and who would be the most dangerous people who can gain from getting at your secret files. It’s like naming the customary suspects in a criminal identification parade. I am not intimating that the people you are friendly with can’t be believed but it helps to be especially cautious. You brother probably would not do anything devious but his pals might, and if they have physical admission to your computer then your files are in peril of being accessed.

Lock your computer with a strong password.

Employ mixtures of letters and numbers, upper case and lower case, and even use encryption. Steer clear of employing the familiar birthdays, personal numbers, card PINs, account details, idolized superheroes, or favorite film, etc. Utilize unusual passwords and make one up for every system that demands authentication.

To protect your pc from external computer hackers, the ideal thing to do would be to disconnect your personal computer from any network if you are not on it. No anti-virus application program or firewall system supply 100 per cent protection.

If you do go online, make certain that you have turned your firewall on plus your anti-virus application program is engaged. In addition look into your security setup. Your emails, web browsers and even additional application programs have particular settings which heighten the protection, permitting them to deflect attempts from computer viruses, malware and spyware. Look at the security system settings and choose one which allows you to maximize the employ of the application program but simultaneously provide you a healthy deal of protection to keep your files protected.

Also, do not forget about power spikes and additional technical issues. Although, the virus and cyber-terrorist menaces are genuine and sometimes the priority, people likewise forget that sometimes power spikes or the breakdown of computer hardware can cause damage to data or have files corrupted and rendered unusable.

To have included protection therefore, it would be wise to set up an UPS or uninteruptible power supply that safeguards your pc from power spikes, and allows you to back up or shut down your computer properly preventing possible corruption of files and applications.

Speaking of backing up, it would be fantastic if you regularly save your data, in case the unimaginable takes place. Whether these are personal files or data you have to have for your work, having a frequent back up is always a good thing to carry out.

Computer Slowdown? Switch Yourself To Portable Applications

Published: Jan 15th, 2010 | Author: Crank Up Add Comment

Recently I found my computer crashing on me due to over usage of disk space on my main drive, main reason of it simple I was just using too many applications on system that is literally making my computer to slow down dramatically and also it came to a point I hardly found any space even to make system restore.

Then finally I decided to format the entire system, am I serious? yes I am I just formatted my system totally and installed my OS once again and this time I made a point that I am not going to install applications on my computer but rather start using portable applications instead that will save my disk space and also dramatically improve my computer performance.

portable applications
Good thing about portable applications are that you can carry it around with your pen drive and it consumes very little space and it works just like the normal application that is installed in your computer, I thought its the best way to save a lot of disk space on my computer and also make my computer work a lot better.

I just bought a 8GB pendrive from a electronics store near my home and I loaded it up with portable applications that use often so I just insert my pendrive Flash Disk to my computer and start using the applications straight away from there and not only that I can now use this pendrive for my laptop too and now I just love the way my computer works its really smooth and its super fast just the way I wanted it to work.

you can find all sorts of portable applications at
pendrive apps
source forge
portable apps

You can find almost all the open source applications on these urls and I really found them to be quite useful. So why not uninstall your applications which grabs too much space on your main drive and start using portable applications? it makes your PC to work a lot better.
