This morning, Apple released a new version of their popular web browser; Safari. You might have thought that over the past coup of months, Apple had been quite busy releasing a variety of products such as the iPad and the iPhone 4 devices, and now, even the Apple Trackpad, however, it seems they have still managed to make time to update their browser and make it even more user friendly.
This new version of Safari is version 5.0.1. There are very few changes to the actual browser in the way that it looks, however, there is one huge change that Apple has made that they hope will change the way that users use the browser forever. The major thing that Apple has added to this version of Safari is something called Extension support. Now, if you are familiar with other browsers such as Firefox then you will have had a feature that is similar to this with the add-ons for Firefox. However, in the typical Apple style, they aim to make this new extensions support the best thing to happen to Safari.
The Extensions can be installed to Safari from anywhere; however, Apple has released something called the Gallery. This is basically a place to browse for great extensions and install them. You could think of this as a similar thing to the ITunes App store, but for extensions. So far, there have been a few great extensions released such as an extension from Amazon, eBay, Bing, The New York Times and eve Twitter. The list is set to grow as more developers become aware of the system.
