The Internet Crime Complaint Center has issues warning about an increasing new email scam. According to their website:
Circulation of Fraudulent E-mail Claiming To Be From U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
A spam e-mail claiming to be from former CBP Assistant Commissioner, Thomas S. Winkowski, is currently being circulated. This attempt to defraud is the typical e-mail scam using the name and reputation of a federal government official to create an air of authenticity.
The spam e-mail indicates the CBP has stopped a Diplomat who is carrying a consignment to be delivered to the recipient’s residence. This consignment allegedly contains millions of dollars, which is revealed to be an inheritance for the e-mail recipient.
As with many other scams, this e-mail advises the recipient they will be permitted to access this inheritance once the recipient has given the sender of the e-mail their personal information.
This e-mail is a hoax. Do not respond.
The U.S. CBP does not send unsolicited e-mails. Consumers should not respond to unsolicited e-mails or click on any embedded links, as they may contain viruses or malware.
It is imperative consumers guard their personally identifiable information (PII). Examples of a person’s PII include, but are not limited to: date of birth; social security number; and bank account numbers. Providing your PII will compromise your identity.

Windows 7 might still not be officially complete. And Microsoft is laying people off. But the company’s already gearing up to launch its next operating system: Windows 8.
Early job postings indicate at least one focus for Windows 8 will be systems and data management.
The company has advertised for developers and testers to deliver “major improvements” in Windows’ File Server.
Indications are Microsoft’s looking to make management of files easier across wide area networks and the internet and to make WinFS capable of scaling to more machines than you get with Windows Server 2008 R2 and even with the as-yet unfinished Windows 7.

Workaholics tethered to their smartphones have another reason to switch to Apple: Rumors that Microsoft’s Office Suite is coming to the iPhone are inching towards reality, and iPhone apps with document and spreadsheet editing capabilities are also on the way.
At the Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco, CEO and organizer Tim O’Reilly asked Stephen Elop, President of Microsoft Business Division, whether Microsoft was truly committed to bringing its major productivity applications to smartphones. Elop’s answer, which referenced the evolution of mobile operating systems and devices in relation to the iPhone Facebook app, seemed to give a subtle indication that Microsoft was eyeing the iPhone and that Office may be coming soon. But Elop backtracked by saying, “Not yet, keep watching,” immediately afterward.
